Deep, dark and trembling with energy.
The Black Mustang sound was first revealed on
Black Devil Disco Club’s ‘In Dub’ album and was
arguably the standout track in a very strong pack.
Described by the Wire as ‘italo shoegaze’, their
fierce analog sound is hard to constrain.
‘Mad As Hell’ is a collaboration with the magical
Kerrier District (Luke Vibert), Cornwall’s answer to
Metro Area, he provides the chunky disco beats
over which the Mustang stack layers of Moog and
tripped out dub vocals and fx to create a kind of
Chicken Lips meet Analord rave monster.
The Sleeparchive Disco Dub comes from a planet
way out in the solar system where people dance
only in their minds and where dub is a powerful
narcotic taken only by the clinically insane.
On the flip things get seriously warped as sheets
of feedback battle intense Moog action, culmi-
nating in a climax of arpeggios and deep space
noise. Truly psychedelic, disco mind funk from an-
other cosmos. ‘LCD Soundsystem meets Amon
Duul’.
* The Black Mustang sound is created by master-
ing to analog tape and cutting the vinyl directly
from the tape master.
