Description

The Chap - Burger Sauce

Inspired by these reactions and soon reduced by you-know-what to zooming rather than touring, The Chap returned to the studio to create some more dystopian disco feasts – taking ‘Digital Technology's John-Carpenter-style techno piece ‘Merch’ as a starting point.

First they arrive at 'Burger Sauce, where the narrator's voice resembles an axe-murderer in a melancholy mood, drawing parallels between food poisoning and interpersonal alienation. Later on, composer and voice improvisor Jennifer Walshe (whose vast body of work includes collaborations with Matmos and the late Tony Conrad) guests on the funky 'Biothics' and also 'The 60s'. From Inside a jungle of glitchy samples, Walshe's virtuoso shrieking duets with a sample of The Chap's Johannes von Weizsäcker performing the Heimlich manoeuvre on his girlfriend Stephanie Piehl.
