Description

Private Agenda - Dressed in Velvet

From their second album 'A Mannequin', Private Agenda produce a swirling disco-pop cut 'Dressed in Velvet'. Furnished with opulent bursts of synth, the dry, intimate vocal harks back to some of Private Agenda’s earlier releases 'Freefalling' and 'Instinct' - while hinting at more poppy moments ahead for their sophomore album.

'Dressed in Velvet' followed hot on the heels of 'Neo-Nostalgia', which garnered early support from BBC6 music’s Amy Lamé, Nemone and Radcliffe & Maconie. Influenced by Alexis Taylor, Bullion and Tears for Fears, Private Agenda explains: “this single contrasts maturity and insecurity; wisdom leads to foresight, but hindsight can hinder our personal growth. The more you know – the more there is to be afraid of”.

Private Agenda’s intentionally eclectic output is now a hallmark of their songwriting, as well as their visual repertoire. Private Agenda released the video for 'Dressed in Velvet' in collaboration with Berlin-based artist Wikihow Adventure Cruise, portraying an outsider who wonders about the cost of their enlightenment.
