Black Devil Disco Club, Prins Thomas, Black Mustang, Unit 4 - Ride Again
Black Devil return yet again with 3 more cuts from their recent
‘In Dub’ album. More of that sinister, psychedelic, analogue sound…’like Joy Division produced by Giorgio Moroder’.
Firstly Prins Thomas stretches the original into a super sexy analogue throb as elastic synths slide over rolling congas and crisp disco beats.
Unit 4 aka Jupiter Black/Michael Black create a dense dark beast of a groove that recalls Suicide more than Chic, as motorik drums and pulsing bass mesh to hypnotic effect.
But nothing quite prepares you for the all out aural assault of Black Mustang’s take on ‘Constantly No Respect’, an evil cauldron of warped guitars, deep dark beats and ‘reverb soaked sheets of overdriven keyboards’ that cohere to create a potent kind of ‘italo shoegaze’, guaranteed to melt both minds and dancefloors.
