Red Snapper - Tarzan
Mixed by Rich, Ali and award winning engineer Shuta Shinoda at Hackney Road Studios, the original is accompanied by a reworking from alt-disco pioneers and 6 Music favourites, Number.
The original shines with its afro-influenced groove, and is an inspiringly twisted progression from previous Red Snapper album 'Hyena'. A hooky sax riff is to the fore, provided by the influential and inspirational Tom Challenger, an unsung hero and leader of London’s burgeoning free-jazz and improvisation scene for many years.
The infectious combination of itchy beats, Afro-Cuban styled bass and uplifting sax riff will lead everyone to their own personal dance floor. It became a crowd favourite at the band’s live shows after a sell out show at London’s Jazz Café in December 2021.
The Number remix is a four-to-the-floor chugger and takes on many of the musical elements of the original, driven by a Giorgio Moroder-like infectious sequence.
